Facilities
We moved into our brand new purpose built premises in February 2018 after we outgrew our first home. The new practice is only minutes away from the old one, across the road in the industrial estate. It boasts a spacious reception area with separate dog and cat waiting areas, and 6 consulting rooms meaning we have more appointments available to make with our vets and nurses. We have our own car park with plenty of spaces available to customers free of charge, including 3 disabled parking bays.
Hospitalisation Facilities
We have 6 purpose built hospital wards for your pets, depending on their needs and illnesses. You are welcome to visit your pet when hospitalised for several days – we ask you telephone for updates in the mornings and have pre-arranged visiting times in the afternoons and evening. Three separate isolation wards house infectious cases and are “barrier nursed” – this reduces the risk of spreading infections to people and other patients and unfortunately means visits are not permitted except in exceptional circumstances. Our critical care facilities include a specialist oxygen cage, multiparameter monitor, syringe drivers etc.
Surgical and Diagnostic Facilities
We have modern well equipped surgical facilities with piped gases, active waste scavenging, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, and close patient monitoring and recording. We perform a wide range of surgical procedures from routine neutering to entropian eyelid surgery and some orthopaedic procedures.
We have a new digital X-ray system giving excellent quality images. Other facilities include ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, eye tonometry, dental scaling and polishing (including dental burs for rabbit incisors) and in-house laboratory services. The latter cover biochemistry, haematology, electrolytes, coagulation factors, and more – all available within minutes.
Charity Work
We are a strong supporter of both national and local animal charities – these include the RSPCA, Animal Lifeline, The Cats Protection League, Iris’s Cats in Need, Stafford Pet Welfare and the Dogs Trust. Whilst any modern veterinary surgery is a business, the ability to make a difference and help less fortunate, ill or abused pets is why many of us came into this profession and continue to work the long hours needed to be a truly dedicated veterinary team at Hope Vets.
Repeat Prescriptions
Some medications are needed on a long term basis by patients, especially as older age creeps on. We operate a repeat prescription policy where we ask for 48 hours notice when placing your order (and ideally a little longer for bank holidays). We typically dispense 1-2 months worth at any one time. Your pet will need to be assessed periodically to discuss their condition and any changes or concerns you may have. These checks are important for your pets continued health and safety, as well as being required under the RCVS responsible dispensing guidelines. Such checks are needed at least every 6 months and may be more frequent if your pet’s condition is unstable or doses have been changed.
